background

Millennium Art Gallery is a framing store located in Center City, Philadelphia, specializing in custom services for art collectors, photographers, and artists. The gallery offers a wide range of traditional, modern, and contemporary styles, as well as a variety of matting and glazing options. The gallery also features a curated selection of art prints and posters for sale, showcasing the work of local and international artists.

objective

This branding project was a great opportunity to apply my skills to help a local business. Millennium Art Gallery had been established for several years and was looking to refresh its brand identity to increase exposure and attract new customers. The primary colors of the old logo were red and black, which made the brand look too serious and formal. I was tasked with creating a new logo, color palette, and branded materials that would reflect the gallery's mission to inspire and support artists and art collectors.

Design Process

I wanted the logo to include visual elements that would clearly convey what the business offers even if the name is not visible. I chose two primary visual elements: a picture frame and a paintbrush.

I wanted the color scheme to feel modern and vibrant and to convey a sense of creativity and friendliness, so I built the rebrand around yellow as the primary color, with black and white as colors for the logotype. The bright yellow represents creativity, optimism, and energy, which are all qualities that align with the gallery's values. Black and white provide a clean and modern look that complements the yellow and creates a bold visual contrast.

I also designed a range of branded materials for the shop, including business cards, flyers, and signage. In addition, I designed and built a new website for the gallery that tied all the new visuals together. I created the initial website content, as well, using images of framed artwork and photographs to showcase the gallery's services.
